If you’ve been following along, you know about my vegan superhero crush on Dreena Burton, author of several cookbooks, including my favorite, Let Them Eat Vegan! I’ve tried a number of her recipes and they’ve ALL been SO delicious. Seriously. Not a bad apple in the bunch.
That’s why I think she’s such a rockstar. She has 86’d the lemons and gives you only the best.
Her apple pie is no exception…
When she asked me to test her gluten-free pie crust with her apple pie filling – and then write a guest post about it with my photos, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I have to confess, she asked me to do this several weeks ago… but I obsessed over the photos being perfect.
So it took a couple of pies and TONS of photos before I was felt like they were worthy.
(The photos are far from perfect, but they are as good as it gets with the skill set and camera I have right now.)
Drumroll, please…
If you’re wondering if it tastes as good as it looks, the answer is YES. In fact, it’s hard to believe this flavorful pie is both vegan and gluten-free. For the recipe and photo tutorial, CLICK HERE.
I do hope you’ll give this recipe a try – maybe even for the holidays?! If you make it, be sure to share your photo on the 86 Lemons Facebook page – I’d love to see your handy work!
Your pictures are really great, and this pie looks amazing! So exited for a xgfx version! I might just make this today.

Thank you! Dreena never disappoints ;) You’ll luv it.
Great job, Livvy! I think your photos are fantastic.
Gorgeous pie, Livvy! Looks amazing.
I absolutely adore Dreena! And couldn’t agree more–every single one of her recipes I’ve tried (and there are many, many!!) has worked perfectly. AND your photos are stunning–though I’m sure the other ones looked great, too. Gotta try that pie!! :D
Thank you Ricki! Let me know how you like the pie if/when you try it.
Great pictures! I am a huge Dreena fan. When I became vegan 6 years ago her cookbooks were a great help. Nice to see she is still inspiring new (and old) vegans.
Thank you Gretchen! I’m so thankful for the vegan veterans who are willing to share their wisdom. I’d be lost without Dreena and others.
Wow, this looks amazing… even better than any non-vegan apple pie I could ever imagine!
